Located on the French shore of Lake Geneva, between Geneva and Evian, the village of Yvoire is a medieval city built in the early 14th century.  With over 700 years of history - from ramparts, fortified gates and the Yvoire Castle - it is classified among the Most Beautiful Villages in France.  We were lucky to have salvaged this historic lot of French reclaimed terra cotta tile hexagons from this vicinity.  From a dilapidated structure of an old farm that was once used for storing tools - the patina on this clay feels ancient.  Not 700 years old ancient - but absolutely a good couple of centuries.  The color variations  - due to a hot wood-firing kiln - created an array of hues - from stone and earth to cream, gray, olive and clay.  Due to it's undeniable authenticity - this French clay floor will exude an historic charm as soon as it's installed.

Recommended Sealer after Installation:  Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring

Cleaning and Maintenance:  Vacuum, then clean with Black Soap (Savon Noir) to disinfect, maintain, protect and enhance patina.
