Located in eastern France, we salvaged this lot near Beaune which is the wine capital of Burgundy. This lovely antique tile is a mirror image to the clay roof tiles of the historic villages nestled within the hills of this region. Artisanally crafted with exacting edge detail, it's surface texture has a stone-like patina from centuries of wear.

This hand made Spanish terra cotta tile is hand-molded and kiln fired in wood burning kilns using olive pits as the heat source - a traditional technique that allows for a hot fire and beautiful wood flashing. Antiqued to create a smooth patina and worn, soft edging. Hand Made Spanish Arabesque Terra Cotta Tiles
Extremely well made, artisanal arabesque tiles that are hand-molded and
wood-fired. Consistent in size and thickness that allow for a superior
installation and tight grout lines. Lovely color variations of red clay + ochre and white edges. These ochre and white edges are a hallmark of tiles fired in artisanal, wood-fired kilns. The different colors of the clay are the direct result of the varying heat source where the lighter edges are where the flame source was at it's hottest peaks.
