Historic Decorative Materials, a Division of Pavé Tile, Wood & Stone, Inc. and SHOWROOM
Pavé Tile Wood & Stone, Inc. Showroom is the parent company of Historic Decorative Materials e-commerce site. Proprietor owned since 2000, from the South of France, François Micallef’s direct resources for the highest quality reclaimed and antiqued French, Belgian, Italian and English limestone flooring, oak flooring, terra cotta tiles, cement tiles, Zellige tiles, fireplace mantels, doors and decorative tiles, can be viewed at the Pavé Tile, Wood & Stone, Inc. Showroom. This is a showroom where the installations and vignettes of these materials reveal their nuances, texture and patina - including the various edging details of the grout lines, variation in colors and how different aging techniques will create different surface texture and color of the same stone. As an experienced handmade tile and stone installer, as well as a former manufacturer of his own wood flooring collection, an appointment at Pavé will mean speaking with François and learning the nuances of some of the best antique tile, wood and stone materials that Europe has to offer. Traveling often to Europe to search for new materials and cultivating his already direct relationships with current suppliers, mean he receives the highest quality and most unique reclaimed and antiqued materials from England, France, Belgium, Italy and Spain.
Expanding the Pavé Showroom this past year, there are additional vignettes that include antique English limestone floors as well as increasing the repertoire of French and Belgian antique and aged limestone floors as well as Italian reclaimed limestone flooring. An additional French reclaimed terra cotta tile showroom showcases a variety of French reclaimed terra cotta tile installations that compliment Pavé's authentic Moroccan hand cut Zellige tiles. These old world, hand made glazed terra cotta wall tiles are installed and grouted in large installation wall boards to view color range and texture. Adding to these materials are new installations of antiqued and aged Italian and English cement tiles that include the classic black and white checkered cement floor, raising interiors to an artistic level, as well as the rare antique Italian Bianco Carrara and Nero checkered floor tiles.
This new addition also includes a fourth Kings of France 18th Century French Oak Flooring Collection called The Elegant Farmhouse. This French oak floor follows the oxidation method where the wood is aged from the inside out like it's sister French oak flooring hardwood collections. This French oak flooring collection, pre-finished in a variety of colors, has an elegance that works with a variety of interiors from farmhouse to Mid-Century Modern.
However, we are more than a company that offers reclaimed and aged European materials. We are the direct importers with close ties to our French, Italian, Belgian, English, Spanish and Moroccan suppliers. We are a husband and wife French and American run company who understands both cultures in order to be successful.
We have built a one-of-a-kind showroom that showcases the best of European materials 2 1/2 hours from NYC.
We are artists that craft our Historic Decorative Wall Tile Collections and our new antiqued cement tile collection, called A Catalan Farmhouse 1850 - inspired from European history. I hand painted the wall tile collections and we then kiln-fire and hand-crackle the tiles in our Pavé facility. For our new antiqued cement tile collection that I designed, we antique each piece by hand, also done in our Pavé facility. Depending on need and the materials, we build by-hand custom wooden crates in order for a successful transport throughout the US and Canada.
Our materials marry with many interiors - from Belgian and French Farmhouse and Mid-Century to Historic English Georgian, California Boho, English Shaker, Cottage and Country - just to name a few.
Our e-commerce site: www.pavehdm.com - is my personal creative outlet to inspire you, as well as and more importantly, to present the most accurate images of our materials. We personally photograph the images of our materials from our showroom installations or outside when the material arrives. Those images are a reference tool for overall color variation, texture, and ambiance.
We look forward to working with you.
