On the Road to Florence 16th Century Italian Decorative Wall Tile

The Age of Enlightenment was a return to the beauty of Classical Antiquity and thus was born the Renaissance, it's birthplace being Florence, Italy. The most noble of families, the Medicis were patrons to the arts and Florence was their canvas. Emmi Micallef, co-founder of Historic Decorative Materials and Pavé Tile, Wood & Stone, Inc, hand-painted these designs from 16th century archival Florentine motifs, to recreate that rêverie of what one could find...on the road to Florence.  The On the Road to Florence Collection is hand decorated and kiln-fired on a hand made bisque tile that is fired at the Pavé Tile, Wood & Stone, Inc. facility.  After the firing, they are then individually hand crackled following an artisan technique developed centuries ago.  The images of the tiles below were fired on the field tile color called Perfect Cream White - a color that works beautifully with reclaimed and aged wood and stone flooring.
