There are many aesthetics to the Kings of France 18th Century French Oak Flooring Collection. This collection, called The Country House Collection, is an heroic French oak wood floor. Heroic in size - widths up to 11" wide to 118" long, incredible texture and nuanced colors. The specific texture of the Country House Collection is smooth to the touch, yet one feels under foot the cascading grain and beautiful curves that vary within each plank. After a day of riding in the country side, out in the gardens or walking along stone paths - a patina arises when floors bare witness to footprints coming home from life lived outdoors. Finally, the colors of this noble French oak floor are rich like the French soil, silver grey and browns like tree bark from the forest or amber colors of wheat from the fields. These colors are not arrived by stains or oils, but by an oxidation process working within the oak tannin that actually changes the composition of the wood fibers. This is a 7-10 step process with drying times in between each plank. The boards are then individually worked and crafted to achieve the authenticity of this incredible 18th century patina. The texture and finish cannot be reproduced on site. Over time, these wood floors will continue to age and patina in one's home. They are stunning. Scroll down to view entire Collection.
