Formerly one of the largest and most prosperous cities of medieval Europe, Rouen is located in Normandy along the River Seine in northern France.  The French reclaimed terra cotta brick paver we salvaged from a former blacksmith shop reveals the story of fire and earth forged into a flamed-licked red where burnt black marks play heavily into this story.  One can imagine the brick pavers holding space behind the weight of forged hot iron molding steel.  Its surface texture - coarse and smooth is rugged and strong - perhaps like the blacksmith himself.  Various clay red colors weave themselves around burnt black markings - that have inscribed their forever story onto this handmade antique brick paver.  A perfect companion is to marry this historic cool red + black terra cotta brick with the softness and warmth of rich aged oak, found in our Kings of France 18th Century French Oak Floors - The Olde Oak Collection: Sussex.  The contrast of rough + smooth; cool + warm is always the equation for natural beauty that will forever be authentic in one's home.
