Provenance: Northern France

Nord-Pas-de-Calais, France borders the English Channel, the North Sea, Belgium and Picardy.  The majority of the region was once part of the historical Southern Netherlands, but gradually became part of France between 1477 and 1678, particularly during the reign of king Louis XIV.  This is a land dotted with dunes, spectacular cliffs, estuaries, citadels, fortresses and medieval fortifications.  An ode to this heritage, one can see and feel the atmosphere that is Nord-Pas-de-Calais French limestone flooring.  Artisanally weathered, the top of the stone feels as if sea salted air gracefully aged it's surface - where a smooth patina quietly exudes an historic elegance.  The edges are gently time-worn and the 20" wide dimension radiates a handsomeness - resplendent in interiors from manor homes to farmhouses.  This is a warm gray stone where subtle color variations of gray olive and parchment intermingle - an anchor point that casts a wide net for interior design.  Marries beautifully with reclaimed oak floors.
