Fontaine-Daniel, founded in 1204, is located in the Pays-de-la-Loire region and was titled in 2005 "Un Petit Cité de Caractère. This national distinction highlights for certain small municipalities (less than 6,000 inhabitants), the quality, authenticity and beauty of their architectural buildings. Far from main traffic routes, set deep into the woods of Salair, it's a wonder how we procured this reclaimed lot of French terra cotta tile hexagons! The colors of this lot range from warm muted chestnut and earth tones to blush, cream and sage - but overall it reads soft with lighter hues. The surface texture has a beautifully worn patina - which is the hallmark of antique clay tiles, walked on and lived with for a minimum of 150 years. It's historic edge details don't mask the perfection of artisanal craftsmanship when the tile was first hand-molded and fired in wood burning kilns so long ago.
Recommended Sealer after Installation: Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring
Cleaning and Maintenance: Vacuum, then clean with Black Soap (Savon Noir) to disinfect, maintain, protect and enhance patina.
