If you're looking for an historic showpiece - this sink would be it. This antique Belgian bluestone sink showcases the talent of the stone mason who carved it. The interior basin has an incredible hand-hammered texture - where the mason had to use force to carve out the interior of the trough. Notice the hand-chiseled rim of short striated marks that was done to even out the rim of the trough. Longer striation marks stretch down the sides to form the trough into a rectangular oblong shape. Was he trying to make it look more elegant? The bottom interior of the basin has the original mortar applied to continue it's use - knowing the effort and capability this basin still delivered. And finally - the original hand-forged wrought iron circular hook that was used to keep horses secure as they drank fresh water from the trough offers incredible contrast of materials: stone + metal. A rare and beautiful find.
