Where the Past and Present Collide to Make a Beautiful Future

Historic Decorative Materials

Welcome to Historic Decorative Materials, a Division of Pavé Tile, Wood & Stone, Inc.  At a time in our history where life seems unsure, we look to our homes for a sanctuary of repose, peace and beauty.  The products we offer, as you can see through the image above, are special.  Artisans, woodworkers, artists and potters using noble materials from our precious Earth, transform limestone, oak and clay into surfaces that speak of centuries past.  From reclaimed or salvaged limestone tiles to oak flooring made to feel as if one is stepping into the 18th century - our goal here is to recreate an aesthetic that appeals to all our senses.

First, it's our soul - something deep from within that resonates a feeling of glory when viewing such beauty.  Our past resonates with us - from the old cobblestone streets in Provence to centuries-old Italian churches with a hushed reverence - memories are evoked.  Second, living with these products in the present, anchoring us to the past, we live and breathe authenticity and we feel ennobled by them.  Our appreciation of fine craftsmanship is noted, as we awake each morning.  Finally, with hope in our hearts living in serenity - we look toward creating a beautiful future where we strive to create peace within ourselves and peace with one another.

Below are images and links to a few of our products in order to give an idea of who we are as a company and what we offer.

The Country House Collection: Kings of France 18th Century French Oak Flooring in Wide Plank Solid and Engineered: VINTAGE GREY

The Country House Collection: Kings of France 18th Century French Oak Flooring in Wide Plank Solid and Engineered: VINTAGE GREY
The Kings of France 18th Century French Oak Flooring Collection is an aged French oak wood floor with a vintage surface unlike any other on the market. The color is not arrived by stains or oils, but by an oxidation process working with the tannin in the oak, to change the composition of the wood fibers. Over time, these wood floors will continue to age and patina in one's home. The regal oak patterns, grains and knots are finessed by highly skilled wood craftsmen, who have a technical prowess that achieves the quality of aged French oak solid and engineered wide plank flooring, into a cherished building material that will hold history the moment it is installed.

Vecchia Roma Antique 18th Century Italian Reclaimed Limestone Flooring

18th century Italian reclaimed limestone floors are salvaged from centuries old structures from the Umbria and Florence regions of Italy. These large reclaimed limestone tiles represent first choice patina - the sheen you see from footprints, horses, carriages and weather that have aged these limestone tiles over centuries.

Reclaimed Belgian Bluestone Tiles

Considered as one of the best construction materials in Europe for centuries, antique Belgian Bluestone is chosen by architects for their finest homes. Radiating a deep, rich blue black patina from over 150+ years of foot worn traffic - these reclaimed Belgian bluestones are formidable for their authenticity and serene beauty.

The Renaissance Archives, An Earthenware Terra Cotta Tile Collection - Medioevo Hexagon

The Renaissance Archives, An Earthenware Terra Cotta Tile Collection - Medioevo Hexagon

14th Century Venice is the Voice to this Collection.  Leaving the Middle Ages behind, Venetians have entered a profound rebirth of art and culture. The Medioevo Hexagon is a hand made earthenware terra cotta tile with a matte surface texture. The tones are grey/beige with slight undertones of vintage olive.  It's matte texture is the perfect counterpoint to the reflective Renaissance Archives Majolica Tile Collection.

On the Road to Florence 16th Century Italian Decorative Tile: Palazzo

On the Road to Florence 16th Century Italian Decorative Tile: Palazzo
Archival 16th century Italian decorative motifs have been brought back to life through original paintings by Emmi Micallef. Simplifying form and line, the usual Renaissance flourish has been contained to a quiet elegance with a whisper of royalties past. Kiln-fired in a Florentine midnight blue glaze onto a hand made slightly crackled tile, the above image showcases this beautiful backsplash juxtaposed in texture to a reclaimed Italian oak vanity with an antique Italian stone sink.
