Noir de Mazy, a type of Belgian bluestone is also known as petit granit or pierre bleue belge. This material was extensively used as a high-quality building material in Antwerp during the 16th century - which was a significant period of economic and artistic flourish. We procured a beautiful lot of 18th Century antique Belgian bluestone Noir de Mazy from an old carriage house in Antwerp, Belgium - that is exceptional. Prized for its patina, dark color and fine grain, this lot has a gorgeous light to dark gray-blue-black color palette that contrasts beautifully against a lighter antique material - like our antiqued French oak floors in Authentic Oak. An extremely elegant stone floor, it was considered a prestigious flooring material influencing architectural trends across Europe. Historic authenticity and elegance continues if installed with a kitchen backsplash of our antiqued Delft tiles.
