Since 2000, we have built trusted relationships with Europe’s finest sawmills, quarries, and artisans to offer authentic reclaimed floors, aged French limestone, antiqued oak planks, and hand-painted Delft tiles that embody true European craftsmanship.
Our by-appointment designer showroom and private video appointments provide architects, designers, and homeowners a private, curated experience with our collections—materials defined by provenance, patina, and the timeless elegance of French, Belgian, English, and Italian design.
Historic Decorative Materials was founded by François and Emmi Micallef, whose combined backgrounds in fine art and European architecture shape the heart of the company. François, born and raised in the South of France, personally travels across France, Belgium, England and Italy to source reclaimed French limestone, wide-plank French oak floors, and antique French terra cotta tiles, selecting materials for quality, beauty, authenticity, durability, and historic character.
Emmi Micallef, a fine artist, brings classical painting into architectural design through her line of hand-painted Delft and decorative tiles, inspired by 17th-century Dutch blue ceramics and Monet’s kitchen tiles in Giverny. Together, they have created one of the most respected collections of European reclaimed flooring and artisanal tiles in North America.
Authentic reclaimed and hand-finished French oak floors—wide planks with aged patina, ideal for period architecture, luxury residences, and classical interiors.
Historic and artisanal French limestone tiles, selected for their natural mineral veining, centuries-old wear, and European elegance.
Salvaged from provincial farmhouses and historic French estates; each tile carries sun-fired tones, authentic patina, and the warm character of old-world floors.
Genuine Belgian bluestone with deep blue-black tones, fossils, and natural texture—an enduring stone used across Europe for centuries.
Original Delft tiles designed and hand-painted by co-founder Emmi Micallef, featuring crackled glazes and authentic 17th-century motifs.
We specialize in genuine reclaimed flooring, salvaged from European structures or crafted using old-world techniques to replicate authentic patina.
Our materials are hand-finished by artisans—aged, brushed, distressed, or refined using techniques passed down through generations.
Reclaimed materials reduce waste and preserve architectural history, maintaining the natural beauty and longevity of stone, wood, and clay.
For more than 25 years, clients across the United States, Canada, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and Europe have trusted us for historically accurate, design-driven materials.

Historically undeniable, antique Delft tiles have graced rooms from the grandest châteaux to the most humble farmhouses - always with 17th century charm of idyllic Amsterdam. Rethink that ubiquitous white subway tile - and give art and history a chance in your home installing antique Delft tiles.
