At Historic Decorative Materials, a division of Pavé Tile, Wood & Stone, Inc., we specialize in reclaimed French oak flooring, antique French limestone & Belgian bluestone flooring, antiqued checkerboard floors and French reclaimed terra cotta floors—premium European flooring materials sourced for luxury homes, historic restorations, and architectural design projects. Since 2000, we have built trusted relationships with Europe’s finest sawmills, quarries, and artisans to offer authentic reclaimed floors, aged French limestone, antiqued oak planks, and hand-painted Delft tiles that embody true European craftsmanship. Visiting our European showroom is akin to traveling to France, Belgium, England & Italy.
Historic Decorative Materials was founded by François and Emmi Micallef, whose combined backgrounds in fine art and European architecture shape the heart of the company. François, born and raised in the South of France, personally travels across France, Belgium, England and Italy to source reclaimed French limestone, wide-plank French oak floors, and antique French terra cotta tiles, selecting materials for quality, beauty, authenticity, durability, and historic character.
Emmi Micallef, a fine artist, brings classical painting into architectural design through her line of Delft and decorative tiles, inspired by 17th-century Dutch blue ceramics and Monet’s kitchen tiles in Giverny. Together, they have created one of the most respected collections of European reclaimed flooring and artisanal tiles in North America.
As a husband-and-wife team, they look to classic historic European flooring to recreate authentic stone and wood floors that embody the essence of centuries-old surfaces—rich with layered patina, genuine character, and heirloom-level beauty.
Authentic reclaimed and hand-finished French oak floors—wide planks with aged patina, ideal for period architecture, luxury residences, and classical interiors.
Historic and artisanal French limestone tiles, selected for their natural mineral veining, centuries-old wear, and European elegance.
Salvaged from provincial farmhouses and historic French estates; each tile carries sun-fired tones, authentic patina, and the warm character of old-world floors.
Antiqued checkerboard flooring showcases black & white marble and French limestone tiles with historic patina, aged edges, and timeworn texture—authentic European-inspired stone floors for luxury interiors, restorations, and classic architecture.
Genuine Belgian bluestone with deep blue-black tones, fossils, and natural texture—an enduring stone used across Europe for centuries.
Delft tiles & historic decorative ceramic wall tiles designed and hand-painted by co-founder Emmi Micallef, featuring antiqued porcelain surfaces and authentic centuries-old European tile motifs.
We specialize in genuine reclaimed flooring and faithful heritage reproductions—sourced from European structures or crafted using old-world techniques to replicate authentic patina, aged surfaces, and historic character.
Our materials are hand-finished by skilled European artisans using centuries-old, closely guarded methods—aged, brushed, distressed, and refined to achieve the depth and nuance of true historic surfaces.
Reclaimed materials reduce waste and preserve architectural history while extending the life of stone, wood, and clay through thoughtful reuse and responsible sourcing.
Since 2000, clients have trusted us for historically accurate, design-driven materials. Private showroom appointments offer a tactile journey through curated European wood, stone, and tile—French oak flooring, reclaimed French oak, antique French limestone, Belgian bluestone, French reclaimed terracotta, checkerboard marble, limestone floors, and Delft tiles—creating an experience akin to stepping into France, Belgium, England, and Italy.
