Antique Belgian Bluestone Flooring, Reclaimed Near Bruges, Belgium

Often called the “Venice of the North,” Bruges is celebrated for its preserved medieval architecture, winding canals, and timeworn cobblestone streets. Just beyond its historic center, we reclaimed an extraordinary lot of antique Belgian bluestone from a collapsing 18th-century farmhouse.

This stone carries its original 200-year patina, with natural tonal movement ranging from deep blue-black to soft slate gray. What makes this antique Belgian bluestone truly exceptional is its surface character: a dynamic interplay of satiny smooth wear, mottled fossil markings with ancient marine shells, and visible linear hand-hammered craftsmanship. The result is not merely a floor, but a sculptural architectural surface — layered with geology, labor, and time.

Paired with our antiqued French oak from the Olde Oak Collection, these materials together evoke the quiet strength and handsome elegance of an 18th-century European interior — a true historic dialogue in stone and wood.
