Marie-Thérèse is an exquisite French limestone flooring distinguished by a hand-finished satin patina, softly antiqued edges and a refined palette of royal cream, pearl, parchment and the softest gray.
Named for Marie-Thérèse Charlotte de France, born at Versailles in 1778 to Louis XVI and Marie-Antoinette, this French limestone carries a name with considerable expectations. Madame Royale grew up surrounded by marble and parquet floors, mirrored chambers, gilded moldings, embroidered silks, lace and pearls. To name our newest French limestone after her, we believed it had to be a stone worthy of le Château de Versailles. Without question, it is.
Marie-Thérèse completes a trilogy of our hand-finished antiqued French limestone floors: Marie-Antoinette, Montclair and now Marie-Thérèse. Each possesses a surface reminiscent of a satin oyster shell, created as experienced French stone masons meticulously work the limestone by hand. The resulting satin patina catches and reflects light softly, giving the stone a beautifully aged luminosity rather than a polished appearance.
Softly antiqued edges create elegant, nuanced grout lines reminiscent of historic French limestone floors, whispering of well-heeled feet waltzing across the floors of an old château.
What makes Marie-Thérèse particularly beautiful is her natural limestone patterning, reminiscent of the pleats and folds of satin and silk gowns edged in delicate lace. Her colors are equally refined: royal cream, pearl and parchment delicately laced with undertones of the softest gray.
For European-inspired interiors, Marie-Thérèse pairs beautifully with antiqued French oak, lime plaster, reclaimed French terra cotta, aged metals and natural linens.
The overall effect is quiet, discreet and incredibly discerning—an antiqued French limestone floor with the character, patina and refinement of an old French château.
