Antique French Grey Limestone Dalle de Bourgogne Tiles

Dimensions: Random Sizes, First Choice Patina

Salvaged from a Château in the Bourgogne Region of France, these Antique French Grey Limestone Dalle de Bourgogne Tiles are from one lot with beautiful colors of grey, grey blue and stone colors. This lot has first choice patina - which means it's patina sheen was created by the original footprints and wear from those who walked upon these floors over 150-200 years ago. To receive such a consistent quantity of this material is unique - a true find.

Nearly 200 years ago, local artisans sourced their building materials from top-quality limestone quarries in the Bourgogne region of France. This incredibly hard limestone had to be split by hand instead of sawing them into dalles. Due to this hand hewn technique, the resulting pavers varied in size - contributing to it's classic beauty that we cherish today. With thanks to the generations who resided in these old bastide and châteaux, these successive families refined their patina and have become the magnificent pavers we recuperate today.  Historic Decorative Materials offers the original top quality first cut that yields it's 17th century surface.
