Castelnau-de-Montmiral is located in the Occitanie region of southern France in the department of Tarn. Built as a a fortified bastide village around 1220 - the village was an impressive stronghold. With cobblestone streets, timbered houses and a 15th century church - it is considered one of the most beautiful medieval villages in France. We salvaged this French reclaimed terra cotta tile hexagon not far from the center of the village where it's patina speaks volumes of this magnificent floor. With the surface texture worn - to the touch, its smooth and matte. The color variations are sublime - rich in oak and chestnut, enlivened by blush and butter colors. We are pairing this clay floor with our 18th Century French Oak Flooring in color way: Warm Chestnut. The soft and warm chestnut browns of the oak floor is anchored by the same hues found in this terra cotta clay tile lot - allowing the blossom and butter colors to sparkle.
