Artisans crafted troughs from Belgium bluestone, an abundant resource in the 17th century, for farmers to nourish their animals. Hand-carving a trough from a large, heavy block of limestone today for a trough is simply not done. This is why these antique limestone troughs have become elevated in the interior design world. The appreciation of the craftsmanship and their historic provenance creates an artistic focal point for baths and powder rooms. This particular Belgian bluestone antique trough is a powerhouse of beauty. The vertical and patchwork hand chiseling on the top rim and both interior and exterior sides of the trough add a sublime texture, contrasting to the rectangular bowl where time and water etched it's surface texture into a smooth patina. Installing the faucet on the wall and allowing water to flow freely into the basin is an historic achievement in one's home.
Recommended Sealer after Installation: Akemi Stain Repellent Nano Effect for French Limestone and Belgian Bluestone Flooring
Cleaning and Maintenance: Clean with Black Soap (Savon Noir) to disinfect, maintain, protect and enhance patina.
Disclaimer - these artisan, antique focal point, stone basin sinks are not install ready. A qualified plumber/artisan will need to add the proper drain and overflow holes.
