Montmartre Reclaimed Terra Cotta Cobblestone Tile

Did you know that Montmartre, during its early and medieval history, remained a rural village beyond the fortified walls of Paris? Once dotted with vineyards, small farms, and iconic windmills that ground local wheat and pressed grapes, Montmartre lived a quiet agrarian life long before it became legendary. It was not until the Belle Époque of the late 19th and early 20th centuries that the village transformed into a creative sanctuary—drawing artists, writers, and poets such as Pablo Picasso, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, Edgar Degas, and Vincent van Gogh.

The reclaimed terra cotta cobblestone tile lot we recently salvaged from a three-story, timeworn Montmartre home carries that layered history beneath every step. With an extraordinarily rich patina—a confetti of warm, weathered hues echoing the village itself—each tile bears antique edge detailing that speaks to more than 150 years of age. The intimate 4½-inch square format creates a lyrical cobblestone installation, making this floor a true showstopper for entryways, hallways, rotundas, kitchens, or baths. Traditionally sold by the lot, we are offering this storied material with a minimum of 100 square feet, so its beauty—and history—can be shared more widely.
