Hand-painted English Gothic ceramic wall tile inspired by 14th-century encaustic tile traditions, the Queen's Medallion is an original decorative design within the Carriage House Collection by Historic Decorative Materials. Drawing upon the heraldic symbolism, ornamental geometry, and royal imagery of medieval England, this medallion motif recalls the decorative artistry of historic English castles, manor houses, and ecclesiastical interiors.
Originally interpreted and painted by Emmi Micallef, co-founder of Historic Decorative Materials, the Queen's Medallion features a Medieval Grey motif against a Vintage Warm White ceramic field. Each tile is individually hand-painted and kiln-fired, with a delicately crackled glaze that lends the surface the softly aged character of historic English ceramics.
Part of a coordinated collection of English Gothic decorative wall tiles, the Queen's Medallion can be combined with complementary Carriage House motifs, borders, and moldings to create fireplace surrounds, kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, and architectural tile panels. Its warm, restrained palette complements antiqued French oak flooring, reclaimed French limestone, Belgian bluestone, and traditional European interiors.
Recommended Sealer: Apply Akemi Stone Impregnation sealer following manufacturer's instructions after installation and grouting of tile.
