Medieval English Scrollwork Ceramic Corner Tile Inspired by 14th-Century Gothic Encaustic Designs

Hand-painted English Gothic ceramic corner tile inspired by 14th-century encaustic tile traditions, the Scroll Corner is an original ornamental design within the Carriage House Collection by Historic Decorative Materials. Drawing upon the flowing scrollwork and decorative geometry of medieval English architecture, this coordinating corner motif brings symmetry and continuity to traditional Gothic tile compositions.

Originally interpreted and painted by Emmi Micallef, co-founder of Historic Decorative Materials, the Scroll Corner features an elegant ornamental design in Medieval Grey, a muted warm grey, against a Vintage Warm White ceramic field. Each tile is individually hand-painted and kiln-fired, with a delicately crackled glaze that evokes the aged surfaces of historic English decorative ceramics.

Designed to complement the Carriage House Scroll Border and coordinating Gothic motifs, this hand-painted ceramic corner tile allows decorative borders to turn seamlessly around framed tile panels, fireplace surrounds, kitchen backsplashes, and bathroom walls. Its warm grey and antiqued white palette complements reclaimed French oak flooring, antiqued limestone, and Belgian bluestone, bringing historic English ornament into both traditional and contemporary interiors.
