Medieval English Oak Leaf Decorative Ceramic Corner Tile Inspired by 14th-Century Gothic Encaustic Designs

Hand-painted English Gothic ceramic corner tile inspired by 14th-century encaustic tile traditions, the Oak Leaf Corner is an original botanical design within the Carriage House Collection by Historic Decorative Materials. Drawing upon the oak leaf ornament of medieval English decorative arts, this coordinating corner tile brings continuity and symmetry to traditional Gothic ceramic tile installations.

Originally interpreted and painted by Emmi Micallef, co-founder of Historic Decorative Materials, the Oak Leaf Corner features a botanical motif in Medieval Grey, a muted warm grey, against a Vintage Warm White ceramic field. Individually hand-painted and kiln-fired, each tile has a delicately crackled glaze that recalls the aged character of historic English decorative ceramics.

Designed to complement the Carriage House Oak Leaf Border and Oak Leaf Compass motifs, this English Gothic ceramic corner tile allows decorative borders to turn gracefully around framed tile panels, fireplace surrounds, kitchen backsplashes, and bathroom walls. Its restrained warm grey and antiqued white palette pairs naturally with reclaimed French oak, antiqued limestone, and Belgian bluestone, making it equally suited to historic restorations and contemporary interiors influenced by traditional English architecture.
