Antiqued French decorative ceramic wall tiles inspired by 19th-century Rouen pottery capture the charm, artistry, and enduring character of traditional French interiors. J’aime la France, part of the Cuisine de Monet Collection, celebrates the decorative ceramic traditions of France through an original blue and white tile design influenced by the celebrated tiled kitchen of Claude Monet's home in Giverny.
The collection draws upon the ornamental vocabulary of historic French faience, where expressive blue decoration, balanced compositions, and traditional ceramic craftsmanship became defining features of French Provincial interiors. Originally hand-painted by Emmi Micallef, co-founder of Historic Decorative Materials and Pavé Tile, Wood & Stone, Inc., J’aime la France interprets this heritage through an original decorative motif that brings personality and architectural character to interior spaces.
Each ceramic wall tile is kiln-fired at the Pavé facility in a rich French Blue decorative glaze against a choice of Historic Cool White or Vintage Warm White. The glaze is carefully hand-crazed, creating a delicate antiqued crackle that recalls the aged surfaces of historic French decorative ceramics.
These hand-painted blue and white French wall tiles are ideal for elegant European kitchen backsplashes, bathroom walls, decorative fireplace surrounds, and traditional European interiors. Used individually as an ornamental accent or incorporated into a larger decorative tile installation, J’aime la France complements antiqued French limestone, reclaimed oak flooring, Belgian bluestone, and antique French terra cotta, bringing together the textures and materials associated with authentic French country architecture.
Historic Cool White: A crisp, cooler white that creates a clean, luminous contrast with the French Blue decorative glaze. Its brighter appearance emphasizes the clarity of the hand-painted design and the traditional blue and white palette of French decorative ceramics.
Vintage Warm White: Our warmest white, with a softened, aged appearance that harmonizes beautifully with reclaimed European architectural materials. Particularly complementary to antiqued French limestone flooring, Belgian bluestone, antique cement tiles, French oak floors, and reclaimed French terra cotta tiles, Vintage Warm White enhances the natural patina and warm tonal variations of historic interiors.
