We recently reclaimed a rather large and exquisite lot of white French terra cotta tile from une ancienne structure in Turenne, France.  Turenne is considered one of the most beautiful villages in France, where the first lords of Turenne appeared in the 9th century.  Sitting on top of a limestone formation which supports rich forests, this region is known for its walnuts, mushrooms, truffles, and foie gras.  What's wonderful about this particular French reclaimed terra cotta tile is, of course it's color range.  A rare site to find white terra cotta tile - which means the clay used to fire the tiles began as a white clay.  The color variation of whites - from stone white, gray white to parchment white - is due to the firing in wood-burning kilns where the varying degrees of temperature leaves a dazzling result of nuanced white color hues.  This antique terra cotta tile lot nearly has a white stone appearance, with a rich patina from the centuries of footprints and wear on it's surface.  Finally, the antique edging - magnificently straight but perfectly worn with age means tight grout lines for the most elegant of reclaimed terra cotta tile floors.

Recommended Sealer after Installation:  Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring

Cleaning and Maintenance:  This lot will need surface cleaning after installation. Vacuum, then clean with Black Soap (Savon Noir) to disinfect, maintain, protect and enhance patina.
