Their color ranges from earthy brick red and faded rose to deep aubergine, brown and near-charcoal, with beautiful variations created by the natural clay and historic firing process.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThe Var region of Provence has been an important center of terra cotta production for centuries, prized for its deposits of fine, iron-rich red clay. Historic kilns produced floor tiles whose surfaces developed remarkable variations as flame, heat and firing conditions interacted with the clay.
