Château de Sully-sur-Loire Antiqued French Gray Limestone Floor holds an important name, for our inspiration was quite brazen. We wanted a French gray limestone floor that felt as if we were living in a Medieval Castle. The namesake of this French limestone floor, the Château de Sully-sur-Loire, a true castle, was the seat of the Duke de Sully, King Henry IV of France's minister Maximilien de Béthune (1560–1641), and the later dukes of Sully. It is a château-fort, built to control one of the few sites where the Loire can be forded.
This French limestone floor has a rich color range of stone gray, French beige gray, blue gray and olive gray. It's a floor that anchors a room and bellows history. Its surface texture is a patina rustique - worn and pitted with crystal inclusions. It has incredible gray veining as well as undulations of richly saturated, colored limestone that manifested tens of thousands of years ago within the Earth's bedrock. The edge detail is slightly chiseled - for the goal was to keep a tight grout line as seen in old stone castle flooring.
This regal French gray limestone floor pairs beautifully with our Kings of France 18th Century French Oak Floors in VINTAGE GREY. This French oak floor is nearly royal in size and appearance - where it's weathered and highly brushed surface has undulations that makes for an historic masterpiece. This French oak floor shares similar colors to our Château de Sully-sur-Loire Antiqued French Gray Limestone Floor - where the variations of grays co-mingle to perfection.
