Provenance: Puy de Sancy, France. This is a rare yellow square French reclaimed terra cotta tile with beautiful flashing from the wood-fired kilns. The varied heat within these kilns causes high and low points in temperature which create the flashing. The yellow color is due to a very high fired kiln - which is more rare - for often times firing too high will turn the tile a olive green. A capable artisan to say the least!
A beautiful, worn patina with a lovely butter yellow color and blush flashing. This is a reclaimed hand made French terra cotta tile, salvaged from a dilapidated 150-year old farmhouse. The edges are wonderfully worn - but due to the high caliber of craftsmanship - the tile, consistent in thickness, will allow for that elegantly tight grout line. This would make a superb kitchen floor with a blue and white tiled kitchen backsplash like one from our Cuisine de Monet 19th Century Wall Tile Collection. An elegant and historically accurate interior.
Recommended Sealer after Installation: Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring
Cleaning and Maintenance: Vacuum, then clean with Black Soap (Savon Noir) to disinfect, maintain, protect and enhance patina.
