Provenance: Amboise, France - which is located on the banks of the Loire River and was once home to the French royal court.  In the center of Amboise is an historic monument named Clos Lucé, where Leonardo di Vinci lived until his death.  This reclaimed French terra cotta tile lot was salvaged from un vieux batîment outside the grounds of Cloe Lucé.

A beautiful, worn patina with a rich color variation - this reclaimed French terra cotta tile hexagon was made with precision.  Artisans from 150 years ago hand molded each tile to achieve an elegant, tight grout line - one of the hallmarks of French reclaimed terra cotta tile, and was fired in wood burning kilns.  The terra cotta clay tiles react differently to the variations of the wood fire temperatures within the kiln - thus creating reactions which result in unbelievable color variations.

Recommended Sealer after Installation:  Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring

Cleaning and Maintenance:  Vacuum, then clean with Black Soap (Savon Noir) to disinfect, maintain, protect and enhance patina.
