Lucky for us we spent a few glorious days in Châteauneuf-du-Faou to salvage a rare lot of French reclaimed white terra cotta tile. The falling down rampart of a structure was located in the middle of Brittany, overlooking the Canal de Nantes à Brest. We have been able to reclaim some gorgeous lots of French reclaimed yellow terra cotta tile - but never white. To achieve a white terra cotta tile means that the actual clay deposits sourced underground had to be white - not yellow or terra cotta clay colors. This means we have a rare bird - a French reclaimed white terra cotta tile that has an incredible patina due to footprints and wear. We believe this lot is from the 17th century judging from the structure from where we procured it. Hand-molded and kiln fired, this well-crafted white terra cotta tile has beautifully aged edge detail where the interlaced old white colors make for a spectacular floor.
Recommended Sealer after Installation: Akemi Stone Impregnation for French Reclaimed Terra Cotta Tile Flooring
Cleaning and Maintenance: This lot will need surface cleaning after installation. Vacuum, then clean with Black Soap (Savon Noir) to disinfect, maintain, protect and enhance patina.
