On the peripheral of the largest woods in France called la Forêt de Senonches was a dilapidated structure where we salvaged a beautiful lot of French reclaimed terra cotta tile hexagons. Not far from this structure is the Château de Senonches - built in the 11th century - where the oldest section of the château is classified un Monument Historique. This French reclaimed terra cotta tile hexagon lot has spectacular color variation and rich patina - surely a well-used and well-loved floor in this historic and beautiful region of France. Within this lot there are tiles where red and yellow clay swirl about like traditional medieval tiles one finds in churches. As well, due to the wood firing where temperatures vary in the kiln and can climb to 1100 degrees Celsius - this lot has a range of colors from ochre and butter to burnt cinder and stone colors. An historic lot.
