The Egyptians have immortalized their name in the annals of history due to their art, architecture and craftsmanship.  As expert craftsmen, they made brick, cement and plaster of Paris. A gift from the Egyptians yet historic to us none the less, 150 year old recuperated cement tiles from old homes and squares in and around Cairo remain authentic and relevant in today's architecture. These reclaimed cement tiles from Egypt are unique for their soft color palette with no decoration. As with a high-quality traditional cement tile, these tiles were made starting with a first layer of finely dehydrated cement, followed by a more coarse layer of sand and cement and finally a pigmented layer that was hydraulically pressed into the surface where the color became part of the tile.  These rare antique tiles are prized for their overall read of gray color tones yet with beautiful color variations of parchment, shell, and stone.
